In today's marketplace, there are many different kinds of brands and businesses that are shifting more online. From a marketing standpoint and even from an operational standpoint, more people are using e-commerce. This means that companies are delivering items instead of going into stores. This shift online has also drawn in a lot of lead-driven businesses that are increasing their online activity. All of this results in a higher demand for freelancers who provide website design services.

Your potential to succeed as a freelancer is also based on which skill you provide. With website design, you are helping business owners who are entering the online marketplace and need a new website for their business. Even if it's just a new landing page for a new product or service that they offer, this is where you can come in and help them as a freelancer. Keep reading down below to discover how to be a successful freelance web designer.

Why Use Duda As A Freelance Web Designer

Using Duda as a freelance web designer

Why Duda? To be a successful freelance web designer, you need to align yourself with a good platform to perform your services. The most underrated platform that I love to build websites on is called Duda. co because this platform is good for growing your freelance business and scaling your web design agency.

This platform is good for freelance beginners and agencies and is able to create a variety of sites for clients and there's no coding required. It's all drag and drops and Duda is targeted towards someone who doesn’t have any experience building websites yet and is willing to dedicate some time to learn how to build websites with a specific tool.

You don’t have to be technically based on Duda. You can be more on the design side with this platform and be able to produce professional websites that can be sold for thousands of dollars. The most important thing with web design is to be able to tell a story and to guide users through a journey that leads them to a specific call to action. Whether that be generating a phone call, filling out a form on the website, buying a product online, etc.

There also is a lot of new potential with Duda because this platform is growing by adding new tools and features. All these new capabilities will help you bring your websites to the next level. Duda provides easy to use design features that make it a breeze to personalize a website for any type of client.

Since it's all drag and drop, even after you have chosen a template you can customize the entire website with ease. Duda has what's called "Widgets", which are drag-and-drop sections you can add to any page of the site.

My website Profitablefreelancer.com (the one you are on right now) is built on Duda. I went with this platform because after testing every other drag-and-drop editor as a freelancer, I discovered Duda is the best way to grow a freelance web design business. The entire software itself is based on you as the freelancer being able to resell your website design services.

How To Use Duda For Clients - You can use Duda to build a website for a local restaurant or a new food truck or that new business which opened near you. You can even use it as a way to get new clients. So instead of just reaching out to a client and trying to say that you're the best fit for them to be their web designer, you can build a mock website and send them a preview of it.

If You Have Zero Experience, It's No Problem - Duda has a University which is awesome because it teaches you the web design best practices as well as provides tutorials on how to build high-converting websites. One of my favorite parts about the platform is that they are constantly evolving and adding new features based on their user's feedback. They also have great customer service which is extremely helpful if you run into any challenges. Most other website platforms won't give you a number you can reach them on at most times of the day, but Duda does.

Duda vs. Other Platforms

Web design as a freelancer

Duda vs. SquareSpace - When comparing the two, there are some glaring differences when looking at Duda vs. SquareSpace. While SquareSpace provides a drag-and-drop website site builder to create websites, it's not designed for you to grow a freelance web design business on that platform.

With the Duda website builder, it’s easy to get a site up and running in no time at all. When it comes to template variety, the platform is practically unmatched by others in the field. The interface, with drag-and-drop functionality, makes Duda extremely user-friendly. For this reason, it is perfect for an agency or a freelancer looking to build multiple sites quickly.

It's meant for people that want to build websites for different types of clients and be able to manage everything in one place. Also, to be able to have white-label capabilities so the client can log into a website that has your logo on it and you're fully in control of their site is another massive benefit Duda has over SquareSpace.

To Recap: SquareSpace doesn't offer any white label tools or features like Duda. There are also no coding skills required to use SquareSpace, but the editor is known to be hard get the hand of and navigate at first. Here are Duda stats on the comparison between the two so you can see how each holds up:

Duda vs. WordPress - Duda is becoming a more popular website platform than WordPress because all different kinds of freelancers and web design agencies are realizing the amount of time that can be saved. Duda helps you build drag-and-drop responsive websites. This feature allows your website to look good on any single device type whether it be on mobile, tablet, or desktop, you can make sure it looks good.

WordPress on the other hand typically takes the help of a web developer to get most websites up and running. In addition, the ease of use is considerably lower on WordPress compared to Duda, which is understandable. WordPress does suit some types of freelancers best if they already have experience on there. However, if you are new to web design and are looking to grow your freelance business or agency, Duda was built exactly for you.

Here are the analytics on how Duda compares to WordPress:

Duda vs WordPress difference

Why Duda is #1 - Duda provides a plethora of advantages over its competition. Those include its quick adoption period, competitive priced hosting plans, and the value it provides with client management features.

You truly do not need a website developer at all. You can do this all on your own and that's where you can start to cut out a lot of the extra costs typically associated with building websites for clients. Instead of having to pay a developer hundreds if not thousands of dollars to build the back-end of the website on WordPress, you can increase your profit margin by building the website yourself on Duda.

In addition, Duda provides a great platform for you to charge monthly for your freelance services. For example, your ongoing tasks could include the hosting plan, website content updates, SEO optimizations, etc.

Whereas if you just build a website one time for a client and you don't build it on a platform that you can take advantage of like this you will be leaving so much money on the table. “You won't be disappointed with Duda. The typical ‘oh no's’ associated with other CMS platforms are delightfully absent from this one.”

In Conclusion

Duda is the best option in my opinion if you are looking to build websites for clients as a freelancer. A lot of people don't know about Duda yet, but once I stumbled upon this platform I realized how its a great all-around fit and checks all of the boxes in what you want or would need in a website builder.

Whether you're already offering web design services and you're looking for a new platform, or you've never designed a website before, I highly recommend trying out Duda.co.
